Annual conference held at new Detroit casino
Each year, the MMHA Annual Conference presents an excellent opportunity
to network with industry members and find out what's taking place in the
industry. This year's conference also gave members a chance to visit
Michigan's newest casino.

2008 Douglas Altschwager ACM Award Winner
Mary McKenzie, ACM
The selection committee is proud to announce the winner of the 2008
Douglas Altschwager ACM Award. Mary McKenzie is Community Manager of
Belleville Manor a Franklin Companies community. She has been involved in
the manufactured housing industry for 20 years and received her ACM
designation in 2008.

MMHA Consumer E-newsletters
MMHA reaches over 2,500 consumers quarterly with its consumer
e-newsletter. The e-newsletter covers various topics concerning the
benefits of choosing manufactured housing, and is sent to consumers who
have contacted MMHA to request information.

Sales Center of the Year
MHI is calling for entries for the 2009 national industry awards. Entry
forms and submission criteria for the 2009 Community of the Year and
Retail Sales Center of the Year awards are available here, www.congressandexpo.com/2009/industry_award.asp.
Companies interested in entering the Retail Sales Center and Community of
the Year categories must submit entry notification forms to MHI by
February 2, 2009, to participate. Entries for judging in these categories
are due in the MHI offices by February 16.

Nearly 9,000 consumers visited the michhome.org Web site last month.
Using our Web tracking system, we know that visitors use the site to
search for MMHA member businesses, "Homes for Sale" link, and
read articles about financing and private property placement.

Golf outing raises nearly $7,000 for HARVEST
The 13th Annual HARVEST Golf
Tournament Honoring Bob Pelkey and Howard Monson was held at the historic
Indianwood Golf & Country Club in Lake Orion on August 11, 2008. 86
golfers supported HARVEST and had fun playing the best-ball format outing
on one of the area's most challenging courses.

Debbie Somers Baker Fund seeks donations
This past June, our long-time industry trainer Debbie Somers Baker and
her husband were in a very serious automobile accident near Syracuse,
N.Y. Debbie's husband Jack died in the accident. Debbie suffered multiple
fractures in her leg, ribs, arm and face. After multiple surgeries,
Debbie is recovering at home. She has numerous doctor appointments and physical
therapy sessions.

New association program off to a successful start
Just one month ago, we announced that Origen Financial Services and MMHA
have launched the "Origen Advantage Association Program." To
date, six MMHA member community owners have taken advantage of this
product which is designed to take the risk out of compliance and
documentation for community owners who extend loans to their community residents.
If your company holds the paper on those residents/customers who are
purchasing their homes through the community, be sure to check out the
